A nice and quiet cafe inside MOCAD. The place used to be a car dealership, and the name is a nod to the Rule of 78s used in lending. The design is a reflection of that past too, with seating area that is essentially a spacious warehouse, and roll up garage doors that are open on nice weather days. Cocktails are pretty good, but nothing to rave about, which is surprising since this place is owned by the same folks at Sugar House. Food is good, ambiance is super chill, and the bartenders are friendly. A nice choice for group gatherings or good convos.

REALLY enjoyed myself here. I wasn't able to see the whole gallery but from what I did see it was really nice. They do ask for a small donation, which I was happy to give seeing I felt uplifted when I first walked in The Café was nice. An open floor plan that connected right with the gallery and some good tunes playing over the speakers(not too loud though). I was able to enjoy the atmosphere and read a book before I was off exploring again. I will surely be back again!

Overall good food, good service, and it is at a cool location. Prices are a little expensive but I did not really mind as it is a small cafe that belongs to MOCAD and small businesses like this is what makes Detroit awesome. The BLT was good, but I would've liked actually bacon in addition to the bacon jam they put on it. The latte was one of the best I've ever had, after inquiring I was told that it was made by Astro coffee, and that shocked me as I've been to Astro and Cafe 78 did a good job of keeping the integrity of the coffee's taste. It's worth it to stop by if you're in the museum but it is a bit pricey so prepare yourself.

The MOCAD Café is a relaxing and very chill café located directly inside the Museum of Contemporary Art. As expected, the space is designed thoughtfully and exudes relaxation. It has an urban-industrial feel with a touch of modernism. The big garage windows allow for plenty of natural light - when it's warm, they're open to allow a nice breeze. There are many tables with chairs, creating a perfect atmosphere for small group gatherings or a quiet work sesh'. Not only do they sell coffee, tea, and baked goods sourced locally, but there's also a fully stocked bar with a rotating seasonal menu. Many of the cocktails are bright and refreshing, having been curated by the bartenders. Pricing is fair, as well. The staff are always friendly and kind, and the service has been nothing short of splendid. You don't need to visit the museum to visit the café, as it's located directly to the right of you as you enter the museum. Stop in for a drink or treat, and enjoy the museum if you have time.
